BURP GUIDE - Kimono Ken
Did you miss Burp Guide? HAHA! Sorry guys. Its just that, we were eating at the same favorite restos, Yabu and Sumosam. Both Japanese, yea. Today, I got here another Jap, Kimono Ken.
My Japanese food cravings became stronger. Maybe because I'm into watching my FOREVER favorite anime series, Rurouni Kenshin. If we're on same age range, perhaps the name Samurai X will sound more familiar. *peace I will tell you more about it on my subsequent posts.
Two weeks ago, after a failed attempt to watch Despicable Me 2, we decided to have dinner at Kimono Ken, SM The Block. We saw a lot of customers, so we thought that its a pretty decent Jap place.
Here are the dishes we tried.
Of course, maki/sushi is a must! We tried Tuna-Salmon rolls. I think it's called Mount Fuji. Nice choice. Thumbs up for their sushi bar selection. :)
Next, Kris' fave. Beef Tenderloin Teppanyaki.
The last time I tried this dish, I wasn't satisfied. But Kimono Ken's was very flavorful. The beef was cooked just right, still juicy. The garlic added a little kick too!
Oops, drooling now. :P
I had Beef Curry. It's okay. The curry flavor was normal, not that authentic. Maybe I was comparing it with Yabu's. :)
One more comment about this dish... they didn't use Japanese rice. :( Plus, it's loaded with onions.
Overall, I think the price is acceptable. No regrets in trying and spending more than 800 pesos. It's worth it. I would definitely go for this place instead of Sushi-ya and Omakase.
In addition, SM The Block branch was a bit crowded. Food preparation was fast and the folks were very attentive.
