Skin Care 101 - L'Oreal Paris Hydrafresh Anti-Shine Toner

by - July 02, 2013

I finally said goodbye to Etude's Wonder Pore Toner a few weeks ago.  I was able to finish two huge bottles and I have no regrets in trying it.  It worked, but I guess, the summer heat was unbeatable making it harder to fight the clogged pores and oily t-zone.

I learned recently that sometimes, the more we keep our face dry, the oilier it actually gets.  Makes sense because come to think of it, our skin needs a right amount of moisture and natural oil to keep it hydrated.  If we strip everything off, it will make a way to produce more sebum and most of the time, it's uncontrollable.  The result, an oil factory. :)

The main problem with toners, they tend to extremly fight the oiliness as it's primary purpose.  It's hard to look for something that can keep the right moisture level and at the same time get rid of the excess.  One lucky day and I found L'Oreal's.

I forgot the exact price.  I think it's 295 php for 200 ML.  Cheaper than my previous toner.  The label seems interesting, "instantly quench and mattify shiny skin".  Purifying and mattifying at the same time.  Plus, it's perfect for oily skin.

What makes it even more special is the active ingredient called "Deep Marine Source Water".  This is very rich in essential minerals such as zinc, which is very known for it's sebum-regulating properties.

Hydrafresh Anti-Shine toner also retracts clogged and visible pores.

Now, let's breakdown my thoughts so far.

What I love about it:
  • I can already notice lesser shine.  Normally, oily t-zone starts around 1.5 to 2 hours, but this one gives me more time to enjoy a matte face.
  • I'm not sure if its because we have a better weather now compared to summer, but for me, I think it's working.
  • It cleanses very well.  How to prove that?  If it picks up dirt even after washing your face, it's a  great cleanser.  Well, unless you have a very very effective facial wash. :)
  • It leaves a fresh, cool, minty feeling.  Not irritating.  But if you are a hater of menthol, probably you won't like this.
  • No breakout.
  • It doesn't leave a very tighten texture after.  It keeps the skin supple.  It proves that it doesn't just mattify, it moisturizes at the same time.
  • Very affordable.
  • Very refreshing

Cons
  • The packaging.  I prefer the "pump" type so, I used my old bottle.  Problem solved.
  • The scent might be overwhelming at first.
  • Might irritate your eyes.  Not because of the formula itself but because of the minty scent I guess.  So, make sure you avoid the eye area.  It's very delicate.

I haven't used up half of it yet, so maybe I need to discover more about this product.  But surely, I'm loving it so far.
