Make Up And Hair (MUAH) - MAC Ruby Woo

by - November 25, 2013

Hey, guys!  I'm baaaack!  Missed me?  I took a short break to do some other important things and that includes planning out the holiday collection for our shop.  And of course, everyone knows what happened after super typhoon Yolanda struck our country (yes, not just Visayas because we are always ONE after all).  It's good to know that things there are getting better.  People are starting to bounce back after the catastrophe.  But certainly, they still need help.

Now that I'm back to regular programming, time to post my backlogs.  HAHA!  First off, the review of my new red lipstick, Ruby Woo.

I already did a makeup video for this.  Here's the link in case you haven't seen it.  I made a promise to do a separate post, so here it is. :)

MAC released another set of Retro Matte lipsticks last September.  It's composed of seven shades including the inspiration behind the new set, Ruby Woo.

It's my first matte lippie from MAC.  And I must say, I love love love the formula!  Velvety texture and it's soooo easy to apply.  Just one glide and you get it's true color.

Ruby Woo is a very matte, vivid blue-red lipstick perfect for any skin color.  They say when it comes to red lipsticks, you should only wear the shade that matches your undertone.  I say, you don't need to!  Finding the perfect red lippie is as simple as breathing.  HAHA!  Okay, maybe that's not the correct comparison for that.  But kidding aside, it's really foolproof.  How?  You'll know if it's the one for you if it instantly brightens up your face.  Period. :)

Color: Again, what you see is what you get.  Very intense, bold red.

Application: Sometimes, it does a little dragging but still, very manageable.  Applying lip balm prior helps because it's a no-no to apply matte lipsticks on flaky lips.  Minimal bleeding too.

Texture: It feels soft.  For those who are not used to matte finish, you may say that it feels dry.  But actually, it's the perfect matte texture.  It doesn't overdry the lips though you might feel some chapping after several hours.

Longevity: Dabbing tissue on is not enough to transfer the color.  A few wipes do but product will still be there.  After drinking or eating, I noticed some fading but there would still be a bit of stains.

The photo above turned out to be a little dark.  HAHA!  Sorry bout that.  Anyway, here's the intensity of the color - one layer.

Next, the before and after. :)

Let me share more photos from my Ruby Woo video.  You can also check out high-res pictures here.

My cousin also wears Ruby Woo.  She has a very fair complexion and it looks so nice on her too. :)

Go for red lips sometimes!  It might be a little intimidating at first, but trust me, there's something about it that makes you look more confident and empowered.  #bigword  HAHA!  No matter how you wear it, for me it's always sexy and dramatic.  Put it on day or night!  Rock it girl! :P

How about you?  Do you prefer matte finish as well?  What's your favorite red lipstick?

Thanks again to Kris for choosing this for me. <3
