Make Up And Hair (MUAH) - Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer

by - October 02, 2015

September's officially over!  Hoh yeah!  For some weird reasons, I feel like it just flew by in a flash.  I like it though.  I'm feeling more relieved but still a bit anxious too.  Maybe because of the upcoming trips?  Or maybe only because of PMS.  Haha!

Anyway, I know for the past weeks I've done fewer posts and I've been blogging very irregularly.  At least for last month, I was able to deliver my promise to you guys - a new makeup video after months and months!

For today, I'm sharing a not-so common item in my makeup stash - an eye primer.

Do I really need an eye primer?

Prepping my lids before eye shadow application hasn't been my thing ever since.  Well, I can only think of 2 reasons.  First, I don't feel the need as I don't prefer wearing layers of eye makeup on a daily basis.  I just do it on special occasions or events, so there's almost nothing to "prime" in the first place.  Second, I also apply concealer on my lids and I think it kinda acts as a primer at the same time.  Bottom line, I think it's just an extra, unnecessary step especially for someone who's always in a rush like me.  *wink

This baby costs 248 php for 10g at a local Etude House shop.  The name is Proof 10 because as per the description, it supplies coverage to eyelids and around the eyes to enhance eye shadow color and integrity for a longer lasting, Perfect 10 look.  How about that?

What's in the formula?

TALC, ISODODECANE, VP/HEXADECENE COPOLYMER, MICA, TRIMETHYLSILOXYSILICATE, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, DISTEARDIMONIUM HECTORITE TRIHYDROXYSTEARIN, SILICA DIMETHYL SILYLATE, TITANIUM DIOXIDE, SORBITAN SESQUIOLEATE, PEG-40 STEARATE, BEESWAX, PROPYLENE CARBONATE, DIMETHICONE, CYCLOHEXASILOXANE, METHICONE, BHT, PROPYLPARABEN

It comes with a doe-foot applicator which is nice and convenient.  I like it very much because it can actually help blend the primer easier.  But of course, your fingers would be okay to use too.

The little potion-like plastic bottle is also transparent so you can see how much product is left.

What I like about it?

- unscented
- not chalky
- no shimmer or glitter
- makes eye shadow more vibrant (even the powdery matte ones)
- little amount goes a long way
- doesn't mess up eye shadow blending
- feels lightweight

The best part is that it minimizes creasing.  I tried it a couple of times using matte eye shadow (one eye with primer and one eye without) and I noticed that the side with primer underneath appears less faded and almost crease-free. Plus, it really intensified the color.  I don't know about the 24 hr claim though.

The only problem I have with this product is its consistency.  It tends to be very silky/slippery (I don't know how to describe it exactly) thus giving me troubles when blending it.  But luckily, I found a way.  The trick is to dab-dab-dab and of course, apply tiny bit amount of product.

Other than that, I enjoy this primer and I highly recommend it.  It's not expensive and it can do its job without a doubt.  Similar with my experience, you might not like the blending part but you can try my tip above.

If you have any eye shadow that tends to smear after hours, try Proof 10.  It can help you make that stubborn makeup stay in place.
