Taiwan Trip on a Budget

Sharing some photos from our Taiwan trip last November.  For the itinerary, check out the description box via the Youtube video link below.  I also included the expenses to give you an idea how much you'd need in case you're planning to go there too.

We're able to score discounted tickets via Cebu Pacific but as expected, flight timings are not too favorable.

For our accommodation, we opted for Airbnb than budget hotels.  We got a very spacious place located at the perimeter of Ximending night market.

Click this link and register on Airbnb to get a 2,200 php discount on your first booking!

We exchanged php at NAIA.  For 9,000 php, I got 4,500 ntd.  I spent it only for the food/drinks, transportation, sky lantern and few pasalubong because for Airbnb, tour, pocket wifi and others, I used my credit card.  I still had 700 ntd left after the trip.

We really planned for a DIY tour around Taipei because we learned that commuting is convenient.  We got our Easy Card from Family Mart and loaded 100 NTD initially.

However, to maximize the time I suggest book a tour or if the tourist spot seems far away from MRT stations, take a cab.  Since probably you're going in a group, shared fares shouldn't be that expensive.

For our day tour in the north, we booked through Klook.  We hopped on the bus at 9:00 AM and got back to Ximen station at 6:00 PM.

There's a total of 6 stops but if ever you're going via rented private car, you can probably skip the waterfalls.

Two of my favorites are the Yehliu Geopark and sky lantern.  The Jiufen old town seemed interesting too but we're not able to go around because of the heavy rain.

On our last day, we rode the Maokong Gondola and spent the rest of the day shopping for pasalubong, taking IG photos (lol) and strolling Ximending night market since it's near our place.

We left the Airbnb at 10:00 PM and went to the airport via MRT which took about 30 minutes.
