Althea Watercolor Cream Tint in Marron Cream and Plum Cream

by - March 23, 2020

The world is struggling and an enemy is changing the way we live.  We've been coping with our new "normal" and trying to accept that this is going to be how it is for a while.  I hope everyone will hold on to that positive outlook, deflect negative vibes, keep the faith and hope for better days to come.

Hang in there.  😌

Well, life goes on for all of us.  In my case, work is uninterrupted but other stuff became more challenging.  I'm not annoyed though.  I know how to spend time well at home anyway.  Looking at the brighter side, less excuse for me not to work on my blogposts.

So here's another product review for you guys!

Althea expanded their line and released new makeup products last year.  Yep, I placed my order waaaaay late. 😙 I was so interested to try these tints after seeing the swatches.

There are other 2 shades available and each retails for 220 php.

Color

Marron Cream is a soft peach shade while the other one is in a deep plum color.  Plum Cream looks really red but when applied, the berry tones show up.

Both are very pigmented but Plum Cream is richer in color.

Formula & Finish

These are basically glossy tints.  They are not like watery tints and also far from mousse or cream tints.

They have silky consistency because they are formulated with water and oil.

Although labeled as glossy tints, you could still achieve a flat finish with these if you do gradient lips or when you apply a dot then blend it with a finger.

They aren't that glossy either.  They give a nice shine when applied fully but there's no sticky feeling on the lips.

The scent reminds me of The Saem Jelly Candy Tint in Peach.  Nothing strong, just a hint of peachy sweetness.  🍑

The formula contains hyaluronic acid and squalene to moisturize the lips but they could still be a bit drying after some time.  If you apply a full lip though, your chapped lips won't be visible because of the finish.

Application

I like using Marron Cream as a blush also.  It's more forgiving to apply than Plum Cream.  They stain the cheeks as well but would leave a dewy finish.  If you're not into that, just dust on some powder to mattify.

Lasting Power

Expect a lot of transfer when you have it on your lips fully.  Need not worry about looking pale though because these leave a good stain.  If applied lightly, color fades after a meal but re-applying is convenient because of the non-drying, lightweight formula.  I still recommend lip balm though! ☺️

Dupe!

The Face Shop Watery Tint in Cherry Red is a color dupe of Plum Cream.  Formula-wise, not the same.

You could definitely create a Yoon Se Ri or Seo Dan In makeup look with these tints!

What do you think?

Btw, I checked Althea's site and sadly, Watercolor Cream Tints are already sold out.  I hope they restock soon!
