Make Up And Hair (MUAH) - Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit

by - December 03, 2013

Hello, December!!  This is when the real countdown begins!  Are you excited?  Or you can't just feel it yet?  Well, I understand because there are so many things that are more important than Christmas shopping, recipe planning, parties and more.  But I hope you still find a reason to celebrate the most wonderful time of the year. :)

The past month, I've been in a big pause and seeing my 7 posts (ONLY 7!) upsets me too.  But that's alright because I didn't wanna show people these irrelevant things while our country mourned for the loss of lives and terrible destruction.  In addition to that, I was also busy (still busy), preparing The Chic Closet's Holiday Collection.  I will tell you more about this on my next post.

Hopefully, I could do more than 7 this month!  Fighting!  HAHA!  And despite of that, CHIxyLove is still under 130!  I can't believe it!  Thank you sooooo much for your love! <3

Today, I'm sharing a review about my first ever BB Cream.  Such a loser, right?  I consider myself as a makeup junkie but I don't have a wide collection and I've tried a very popular product just recently.  HIHI!  Oh well!  The stingy in me prevailed again.

This one is from Etude House and it's called, Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit.  I've been using this for more than a month now.  (noticed the stains on the tube?  HAHA!)

798 php

Here's another shot.  As you can tell, it has SPF 30/PA++ which is a very basic property of BB Creams.  It's an acceptable level too, but just so you know, there are others who have 40, 50 or more! This one promises to whiten the skin, prevent wrinkles and darkening.

Cotton Fit has a sister named, Bright Fit.  The difference?  The finish.  Cotton Fit has a matte finish while the latter has a dewy finish.

Etude's website describes this as:

An all-day pearly bright skin BB Cream contains Pearl Extract to purify skin, perfectly gliding onto skin providing clear and bright complexion with Baby Mineral Powder & Cotton Veil Powder for a smooth, cotton-like powdery finish.

And it's true.  The scent is very similar to a baby powder and the finish is not at all dewy.

BB Creams are usually in tube packaging.  Precious Mineral line has a pump that's dispense the product easily.  Overall, I like the simple and clean packaging.  No hassle except for the very first pump.  HAHA!  We needed to press several times.

Since Etude House is a Korean brand, except some of the labels in Hangul.  I got the Honey Beige, third from the 4 available shades.  Natural Beige is okay too, but I consider my complexion a little warmer.  And besides, I don't want my face to be fairer than the rest of my body.  HAHA!

Here's a photo on natural lighting.

Here's what it looks like when blended slightly.

Before I show you guys the before and after photos, here's my review.

What I love about it:
  • Comes in a few shades - covers light to dark
  • Simple packaging
  • Not too pricey - considering it's a Korean brand and it's still less than 1000 pesos for 60g
  • Scent - powder is totally fine for me
  • Easy to dispense
  • Creamy consistency - a bit thick but still easy to blend especially when I use my fingers
  • A little amount goes a long way - 1 full pump is equal to medium coverage
  • Light to medium coverage - buildable, my pores can still breathe
  • Brightens up the face instantly but doesn't create a white mask
  • Lessen the appearance of pores and other blemishes
  • Doesn't oxidize - no gray tint, more of a tinted moisturizer than other BB creams
  • When it sets, it enhances the overall complexion
  • Doesn't cake
  • Doesn't settle into fine lines - but make sure your skin is really moisturized because this has a matte finish
  • Lasts all day
  • Oil control is minimal but I like it because it turns out as dewy at first - minimal retouching needed
  • Can be easily removed by washing your face or by using makeup remover
  • Perfect for oily skin

What to watch out:
  • Clogs the pores a bit
  • No actual improvements seen yet in terms of whitening
  • Very tinted

  • I encountered skin irritations but I'm still confirming if it's really because of this BB Cream :)
  • Not recommended for dry skin
My Rating: A

It covers dark circle but in my case, I still need to apply concealer. :(

less lighting

after 13 hours, no retouch and I didn't use oil control sheet

Overall, I'm happy about PM Cotton Fit.  It's definitely one of the best BB Cream for first-timers.  Next time, I'll try a gray tint to check the effect of oxidation.  I was planning to buy one from Missha, but it costs around 1600 php.  Whew!  That's hefty!  I'm not yet ready to spend more than a thousand for a BB Cream.  HAHA!  But we'll see.  :)
