Skin Care 101 - Etude House Baking Powder B.B. Deep Cleansing Foam

by - July 13, 2014

It's time to start the reviews about the products I've shared in my Korean cosmetics haul post.  First off, this facial cleanser from Etude House called Baking Powder B.B. Deep Cleansing Foam.

Remember my DIY using baking soda as a facial wash?  I liked how it effectively cleanses the face and removes makeup without drying out my skin too much.  I saw this product from Etude House and it's a perfect alternative if the thought of using sodium bicarbonate kinda scares you.

Just to clear up any confusion about baking powder vs. baking soda, one thing you should remember is that, they are like sisters and the latter is the elder and contains more sodium.

So, what does this cleansing foam do?

Maybe you're wondering what B.B.stands for?  They called it that way because this cleansing foam targets BB cream and strips off all residue.  It also acts as a semi-exfoliator as it contains micro-beads that penetrates the pores.

I'm not sure if Etude House still sells this locally.  There's actually another version of this called Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Foam.

Here's how it looks like.  It's very sticky and thick.  It smells like lemon, very citrusy but it doesn't last long.

What I love about it:
  • 150 ml tube for a very reasonable price
  • the beads are very fine and not abrasive
  • gentle on skin
  • deeply cleanses
  • removes makeup like magic!
  • lathers very well
  • squeaky-clean face after
  • not too drying
  • no irritation or break out
  • skin feels smooth and soft
  • gentle enough to use daily (but if you have sensitive skin, use it twice or thrice)

The micro-beads seem like tiny powder particles that help unclog pores and removes extra sebum.  I prefer to use this cleanser at night 'cause it doubles up as a makeup remover.

Ready for the test?

As you rub it on, it produces a very rich and soapy lather.

Tada!  This product is really amazing!  It really does a great job of removing makeup from skin.  There are some mascara residues because it clings to hair, so expect a little leftover on your lashes.

With this, I think you don't even need to buy a separate makeup remover.  Just kidding.  It works well but still, you should not rub it too hard around the eye area.

Additionally, I have a very oily t-zone and so far, I haven't noticed any improvement in terms of oil-control.  I use this 4-5 times a week at night and for the other days, I use my facial scrub to really exfoliate the skin.
