Rimmel Stay Matte Foundation

by - August 04, 2017

I've been shying away from foundations especially the heavy ones because mask-like makeup has never been my thing.  However, I decided to give 'em a try, at least the lightweight, buildable ones since I'd need them anyway when I do makeup videos for a more flawless look.  But on a daily basis, I seldom grab my foundation.

Here's one that I've been using and it's from Rimmel. I got the shade 201 or classic beige.

I think I first saw this on Judy's channel.  Right off the bat, you could easily tell that this is made for oily to combination skin type.

The formula is on the moussey side but it somehow melts as you blend it on the skin.  It feels thick yet somehow airy.

It tends to look a bit orange on me but when blended completely and when layered with concealer, it's unnoticeable.

Coverage is definitely medium to heavy and it gives a nice demi matte finish.  If you wanna see it in action, click here.

I prefer using a brush or just my fingers to buff it instead of using a sponge since the consistency is thicker than a typical liquid foundation.

Also, it could look a bit dry and cakey when I use too much powder to set it.  Since it's already a mattifying foundation, better to use a very lightweight powder if you are really really oily or just set your concealer and skip the rest of your face.  Nevertheless, it doesn't feel like a mask and it makes the skin appear smoother.

The only watch out is the wear time and the matte finish also doesn't last throughout the day.

Overall, I think this is still a good affordable matte foundation.  It's something that I can put on very lightly on a casual day if I'm not feeling my skin or need more coverage.
