BLK Cosmetics All-Day Intense Matte Lipstick in Chic and Long-Lasting Liquid Matte Lipstick in Simple

by - July 22, 2018

When there's a new kid on the block, you gotta go and check it out.

Everyone went a little crazy over this new local brand when it introduced affordable makeup products ranging from lippies to bb+cc cream sticks and especially, when a beauty and style icon none other than Anne Curtis is the brain and face of it.

I just found myself crushing on BLK Cosmetics' aesthetics.  The packaging was screaming simplicity, exactly what the brand is aiming for - uncomplicated beauty.  It can't easily be stereotyped as either too tita or too millennial.  😉

I got two lip products and I'm actually planning to get more because I'm impressed by the quality and best part, everything is reasonably priced. #yougottalovedrugstoremakeup

Color

From their All-Day Intense Matte Lipstick line (299 php), I got the shade Chic, described as a deep nude color.  I could choose the mauvy ones, but I went home with yet another brown lipstick.  Haha!  It's sill a nice MLBB shade though.  😊

Of course, I had to try their liquid lipstick line (349 php).  I got the pink nude shade called Simple.

Both give an excellent color payoff even on the first swipe.  The matte lipstick is not patchy and the liquid lipstick comes a bit streaky but since it's a nude color, it's still easy to work with.

Finish & Formula

Chic reminds me of Maybelline's Creamy Mattes.  It is light as a feather and feels velvety.  It is definitely matte, no prominent shine.

Simple has a moussy texture and the color becomes a little darker when fully dried.  It is one of those liquid lippies that are comfortable to wear.

Both contain Vitamin E and Rose Hip Seed Oil/Camelia Oil to help with the drying part.  There's also no artificial scent.  I could smell something from the tube, but definitely none, when I do apply them.

Application

Even though matte, the bullet glides smoothly on lips.  Well, Creamy Mattes still goes on like butter though.

The liquid lipstick comes with a doe-foot applicator which is slightly longer and flat compared to others.

Lasting Power

Both names do speak longevity, don't they?

Chic is not transfer-proof so expect some fading.  Re-applying is a breeze though because it doesn't dry the lips much.  Simple, on the other hand could last for several hours.

I tried to look for color dupes but I didn't get to find an exact match.

For Chic, closest is Nude Nuance - both brown shades and matte.  Like I said, Creamy Mattes line by Maybelline is a dupe formula-wise as well.

Simple looks like a lighter version of Beeper by Colourpop.

Long-Lasting Liquid Matte Lipstick in Simple

Anne Curtis and her team really did a great job creating this makeup brand.  From the concept to price range, it's what every Pinay (teens, moms, adults) would easily fall for.  Check out BLK Cosmetics if you want to start a no-frill, wearable and basic makeup kit.

What do you want me to try from the brand next?  For sure, I'm getting more lip products.  Their liquid eye shadow and palette look pretty too.

Check out their website and like them on Facebook.
