Did you know that the main cause of skin cancer and damage is due to UVA and UVB?  I think there's no need to explain where they come from.  We all love basking in the sun especially when we're at the beach but excessive sun exposure is too risky if you do not use protection.  It accelerates skin-aging and damages the skin's natural elasticity.

I think the most important question that I should ask is, are you using sunscreen daily or whenever you go out?  If your answer is no, I suggest that you rush to the nearest drugstore.  Now.

I don't know why, but I really regret not adding this to my skin care routine earlier.  Maybe because the heat is becoming more intense every summer.  Maybe.  Nevertheless, I'm more relieved now.

Here's the sunscreen that I bought and it's by Neutrogena.

More SPF facts!

SPF 15 or higher works great but personally, I recommend not lower than 30.  Here's how it works.

Basically, if it takes 10 minutes for your bare skin to react when exposed under the sun, applying a sunscreen with SPF 15 will prolong it 15 times.  So, that's about 2 hours.  However, any amount of SPF cannot not block all UVB and UVA rays.  Furthermore, one-time application won't work.  They say it must be re-applied every 2 hours.

Now, let's talk about the product.

I chose SPF 50 because I easily get a darker complexion.  Unlucky ducky.  Neutrogena is a great brand and the price is reasonable too.  I bought it at around 600 php - 88ml.

It comes in this squeeze-tube.  Not ideal actually because it's a bit hard to control.

What I like about it:

  • Doesn't leave a sticky/greasy feeling
  • Dries fast
  • No irritating scent
  • Feels light and smooth on skin
  • Suitable to wear under makeup
  • Waterproof - though I haven't tested it before swimming
  • Doesn't irritate pimples and block pores
  • Oil-free - oily skin-friendly
  • No white cast
  • Lotion-like consistency

I cannot completely agree about the "sweatproof" part above.  It's hard to tell, right?  :)

I can feel that my skin can still breathe when I have this on.  Good!

I use this daily, whenever I go out.  Do not forget your neck!

Overall, I like this sunscreen.  It doesn't mess up my concealer and BB cream and the formula is really different than usual.  Suitable for face and body too.

Before I end this post, just want to share these things.

1. Apply at least 30 minutes before sun exposure.
2. Re-apply frequently.
3. Even if the sun is hiding behind the fluffy clouds, you have no reason not to apply.  So, using sunscreen only during summer is a no-no.
4. Using multiple sunscreens with different SPF and thinking that it will add up is wrong.  It doesn't work that way.  If you want a higher SPF, buy another one and use it alone.  It's better and provides much greater protection.

Again, PROTECT your skin.  I can't emphasize it enough.

How are you dealing with the intense summer heat?  Well, I'm sure choosing what to wear becomes a problem now.  HAHA!  Apparently, all of my sleeveless clothes are back in the scene again.  Even wearing pants or leggings is becoming a challenge.  One thing I now look for is comfort.  I want something that won't make me sweat like a pig - if that's even possible with 35 degrees Celsius temp.

Dresses or tops made in thin or sheer fabric are definitely a must have.  I do not have enough confidence to wear crop tops and expose my belly, so I'd settle for something lightweight instead.  HIHI!  Cut out pieces are in my list too!  Just like this red long-back top, a perfect example of a summer staple.

Another summer fave is this pair of denim shorts with an aztec patch.  Good news is, we are making these and it could be customized.  Just the way you want it!  Place the patch in front or back.  You can even add studs!  To know more about it, contact us via FB - link below.

I tried another makeup look for my #sisterswedding so that means, another Beauty Board post. Yay!  But unfortunately, I wasn't able to take photos while I was doing it because we were all in a hurry!  We arrived around 8AM and after a quick breakfast, we rushed.  Pft.  We didn't even get a chance to rest for a minute.  Talking about crunch time!

Anyway, sharing today some photos annoying selfie of the look.  Eye makeup is a simple combination of green and gray.  As for the lips, I used my EM lippie (a review will be posted soon) which is in a raspberry color.

To accentuate the eyes more, I put on false lashes.

Soft curls for le hair!

Actually, I tried pairing the eye makeup with a soft/nude pink lips too.

Just a quick #fotd post.

Anyway, Happy Easter!

I was in Ifugao three weeks ago for another wedding slash family vacay.  And yes, it's already the 3rd wedding I attended this 2014.  Not to mention, for 3 consecutive months.  Love is in the air!  HAHA!  But this one's super duper special because it's my #sisterswedding.  It was a simple celebration but the venue made it extraordinary.

My brother-in-law's family lives in Lagawe, a town next to Banaue.  Actually, he has relatives too all over Ifugao.  To witness the couple's celebration of love and union, we had to endure the 10-hour drive (by bus) but it's worth it.  It's was also a perfect time for us to tour around the place and see the famous Rice Terraces with our own eyes.

I have a new "Kuya". :)

It was really cold and I loved it!

Everything was green.  Nature lovers will really do enjoy the place.

The next day, we went to Main View Point and Native House.

The place was so photogenic.

The couple had their photoshoot here as well.

While they're doing the pictorial, I was busy posing too.  HAHA!

star plank!

Beautiful flowers around Banaue Hotel.  We had our lunch here prepared by Chester's family.

After lunch, we went to Native House.  It's situated on top of a mountain so getting there was scary, at least for me who hates sharp curves. :)

We saw original Ifugao houses.  There were a lot of ancient statues too.  The local there said that everything made there has a meaning and purpose.

time to work out my arms!  HIHI!

We went higher and the view got more and more breathtaking.

Rice Terraces

It was a different experience.  Different in a good way, of course.  It made me appreciate nature and the simplicity of life.  It just proves that God is an artist and His works are beyond beautiful.  I'll definitely miss how the clouds descend during nightfall and during rainy days.  The night seems longer and peaceful there unlike here in the busy city of Manila.

Congrats to the Mr. and Mrs. Camhit!  <3
