Another 2-in-1 post!  I'm not yet done with the reviews on the products from my Korean Haul part 2, but I thought of starting the other batch.  So here it is.

Ever since I've tried a moisturizer from the French brand, Yves Rocher, I have been interested in their other products from skincare to makeup.  It's super convenient to shop because everything is organized and grouped by skin type.  Every time I visit the store, I'm tempted to grab plenty of stuff.

So speaking of the first product I've tried, which I loved with all of my heart, I learned that it's from their previous line called Sebo Specific.  Though they still have stocks of Ultra Mat.  They created a new one called Sebo Vegetal, still targeting oily and combination skin.  After running out of the moisturizer, the first thing that popped in my mind was to swing by the shop again and try the new version.

But things went a bit out of hand and I ended up buying 2 products from the matifying line and another one, which was on supah sale!  You've probably seen it in this Just In post.

As mentioned, Sebo Vegetal is Yves Rocher's family of face care products that's specifically for oily and combination skin type.  So, if you have a very shiny T-zone or a greasy face in general, this is the skincare line for you.

The key botanical ingredient used is Baikal Powder which is extracted from Scutellaria (skullcap plant) root.

Let's start with the toner.

As you can see, this is in a form of Micellar water.  For the skincare savvies out there, you've probably heard of it.  It is basically a very gentle cleanser (even more gentle than the wipe ones) that removes makeup, excess sebum and other impurities.

A lot of companies offer them as a toner as well because it acts as a backup for your facial wash.  A cotton pad soaked with toner, or in this case, micellar water helps get rid of any residue left from washing your face.

Alternatively, you can use it alone if you want to clean your face.  Maybe use a separate makeup remover for the stubborn waterproof mascara or eyeliner.

Okay, maybe you're confused by now.  Let me explain it further.

Instead of cleansing your face with your regular facial wash to remove dirt and makeup and stripping your skin's natural moisture in the process, micellar water just dissolves the unwanted particles without any possible irritation, leaving the skin hydrated and fresh.

Now, Purifying Micellar Water 2 in 1 does the same exact job as described above and at the same time, tones the skin, brings back skin's balance and eliminates excess sebum.

What I love about it:
  • affordable - 495 php (200ml)
  • doesn't contain too much chemicals
  • fresh scent
  • no irritation, breakout or redness after using
  • does not sting
  • safe to use around the eye area because it's very gentle
  • removes makeup residue very well
  • does not cause botox-tight feeling, keeps the skin's natural moisture
  • can be used as on-the-go face cleanser
  • removes excess sebum

Watch-out:
  • does not control oil throughout the day
  • not that effective in terms of reducing pore size (except if you do your regular exfoliation)
  • not that effective in terms of unclogging pores (it just cleanses the surface)
Now, moving on to the moisturizer.

The product description on the site says:

"Keep your skin matified all day! This Matifying Gel Cream absorbs excess sebum and effectively hydrates skin for a full 24 hours*. The purifying power of Baikal powder restores freshness and matifies the skin texture of combination to oily skin.

Result: skin is no longer suffocated but is fresh and shine-free. Once again, it breathes and regains its beauty."

What I love about it:
  • very lightweight - perfect as a day moisturizer
  • fresh scent
  • "melts" and glides onto skin beautifully
  • comes in tube packaging (the previous version comes in a jar)
  • easily absorbed
  • contains salicylic acid
  • does not feel sticky under humid weather
  • no irritation, breakout or itchiness
  • acts as a nice base for makeup
  • smoothens the skin

Watch-out:
  • the "matte complexion all day long, no touch-ups necessary" claim doesn't work for me - for some reason, I find Ultra Mat more effective
  • no SPF
  • hydrates the skin, but doesn't make it really supple and bouncy - I recommend using a separate moisturizer to be used at night
  • a little bit on the expensive side - 695 php for 50 ml tube (I have to double check the price, but I think it's above 500)

Truth is, I have mixed feelings about these Sebo Vegetal duo.  I've been using this combo for two months now and I haven't noticed any improvement on my skin, let alone on my T-zone's oiliness.  I can't really tell if it's because weather's hotter now compared before when I was still using Ultra Mat.

Nevertheless, I know for sure that the center of my face starts to appear shiny in like 4 to 5 hours after doing my skincare routine and makeup.  Currently, I have to touch up once or twice throughout the day using my face powder, or by wiping my t-zone with tissue.  More frequently if my pores are all clogged.  Sad.

That being said, I still don't want to toss these products away.  Yes, I'm still using them but I'm also starting to look for a new toner and moisturizer.

I know I can still make the most out of the micellar water as a face cleanser.  I can also transfer it to a smaller bottle and bring it with me when I travel.  It's a nice product to use when I need to freshen up.  I also don't have to buy extra face towelettes.  Yea!

As for the moisturizer, I'll just continue to use it until I have a new one.  I have a little amount left anyway, so might as well consume it entirely.

What do you think?

By the way, they do have promotions very often so pay them a visit.  Here in the metro, you can find them in Trinoma and SM Aura. :)

How's your brow game, ladies?  If you ask me, well, I'm still mastering my skills to achieve perfectly neat and filled brows.  Again, I admit that I don't excel in the reshaping and grooming department.  I always struggle when I don't follow my their natural shape.  All I know is how to fill them in.  That's it.

But thanks to my new brow weapons, it's now easier for me to practice.  I really made a good choice buying a brow crayon and of course, its reliable partner, browcara.

Before, I was only using eye shadow as my filler.  It worked for me and actually, I still reach for it from time to time.  Recently, I finally decided to "press Q" (control to switch weapons in an action game called Counter Strike HAHA!) and now 'em bad boys are happier.

In the brow arsenal, I chose this crayon type called Wonder Drawing by Holika Holika.  It's the common multipurpose tool because it has a spoolie brush at one end and the actual colored stick at the other.

Obviously, no need to sharpen.  All you need to do is to twist it.

According to the product description, this one's very long lasting.  See the label?  It says 24 hours (keep on reading to see how it looked like after several hours).

I picked Dark Brown.  The other shades are Gray Black, Light Brown and Red Brown.

What I love about it:

  • color payoff is pretty good even with light pressure
  • it glides on smoothly
  • stick is not too thick and it's angled - perfect if you want a more precise application
  • travel friendly - no need to bring a separate brush
  • easy to use
  • perfect tool to use if you're in a hurry
  • fills in sparse areas nicely
  • has a waxy formula - lasts longer than powder

I'm good with the color intensity at the this point because the browcara will darken them eventually.

Watch-out:
  • spoolie brush is not very well attached - you may need to use scotch tape to prevent it from coming off
  • the stick may break if you're not too careful

Seriously, ever since I tried brow tint, I realized what I had missed all my life.  HAHA!  The effect is just mind-blowing.

Browcara instantly makes brows look fantastic.  There's really a huge difference.  Trust me.

As my second weapon, here's Eyelove Proof Browcara, still from Holika Holika.  It's water and sweat-proof as per product description.  By the way, I didn't really look for long-lasting brow tools when I was shopping for these two.  I just picked them because they're not too expensive.  However, the longevity is a plus point for me.

my right eye looks weird here :P

The brush has a fat middle and it's slimmer towards the tip.  I do not have any problem with this type of applicator.

It only comes in 2 shades.  Of course, I picked Natural Brown to match the brow crayon.  The other one is Light Brown.

When I need to rush my makeup or whenever I feel lazy (and that's 80% of the time), I just use either the browcara or the brow stick.

What I love about it:
  • very pigmented - though I'm not sure if the Light Brown shade has the same color intensity
  • really tames unruly brows
  • gives a neat and natural finish
  • can be used alone
  • does not make the hair stiff
  • clings well to the hair strands
  • fills in sparse area
  • no strange scent

I apologize for the bad lighting.  I only used my iPhone's camera. :)

My makeup look here seems super incomplete without filled brows.  You can instantly point out what's lacking.  HIHI!

looking like Snow White in the right photo HAHA!

Honestly, I cannot think of anything negative about this product.  To be honest, I wouldn't mind purchasing it again.  Maybe one watch-out I could share is that, one tube doesn't contain too much product.  Most likely, it will last a month or two.  Better to get two pieces, so you'll have a backup.  :)

As I mentioned, the brow tint makes the color darker.  Just a tip, don't go cray cray when applying.  Small amount goes a long way.

Ready to see the result of the "water-proof test"?

just got home from the office

There's still some color left after washing it with water.

I also don't need to use a makeup remover to completely take it off.  Using a facial cleanser does the trick.  But clearly, it's not 100% waterproof.

Overall, I'm loving this combination.  They help me to keep my eyebrow game strong!

Hey guys!  Here's a #Fridayselfie for a change.  Okay, that's just a poor excuse.  I realized that I didn't do a Lookbook post these past 2 weeks.  Hence, no usual Friday Flashback photo.  Oh well.

Anyway, just a quick update.  First, I'm working on a new blog layout.  I thought it's time to have another makeover because I'm starting to think that le blog looks a bit boring and sad.  Header, watermark and signature are ready, so I just have to pick a nice and neat template.  For sure, tweaking it will be challenging for me again.

Second, I'm planning to create a new video and I need your suggestions.  I'm thinking a skin care routine or another makeup look would be nice.  Let me know what you think!

Last but not the least (you can also see it below), we've finally released a new collection --- Ladylike!  Please do check it out on our Facebook page.  I personally love the sheer top and other 4 dresses.  They are very affordable, nothing over 500 php and shipping fee is also free when you order 2 pieces and up!  Happy shopping!!!

Have an awesome weekend!

Happy CNY!

I'm so happy because today is rest day!  That means I can stay in my bed to my heart's content.  Sleep, eat and sleep again.  No work and definitely no stress.  I guess when you reach adulthood and you already have so much responsibilities, you always appreciate days like this.  Weekends become the most exciting part of the week and holidays become the most awaited part of the year.  Yea!

Anyway, let's now talk about today's featured sample product.

It's called Moistfull Super Collagen Cream and it's by Etude House.  It is part of the brand's Moistfull Collagen skincare line.

Here's how the full size (60ml) version looks like.

According to the website, this product is basically an intense firming cream that strengthens and firms the skin inside and out.  As you can see, the label says it contains 63% Super Collagen (that's a lot).

What I love about it:

  • fresh soapy scent
  • blends easily
  • makes the skin instantly supple
  • can double as a night cream
  • creates a nice base for makeup application
  • hydrates the dry areas on my face
  • can double as eye cream (just to moisturize the eye area)

Watch-outs:
  • a bit thicker than regular moisturizers
  • sticky
  • makes the skin shiny (but doesn't make it oilier)

So far, I don't see any reason not to buy Super Moistfull Collagen Cream as my actual moisturizer.  But if there's one thing that makes me have second thoughts, I'd say it's the price.  Locally, you can buy a jar at 998 php.  Oh boy, it's really expensive but I think it would last two to three months even if you use the product twice a day.

What do you think?

It's been a stressful preparation for us, but we still enjoyed it.  And we do hope you like this set as much as we do.

Doing a photo shoot with these ladies is also a chance for me to practice my makeup skills.  What do you think about the look I did for them?

Head to our Facebook page now and check out the full set!  You know the drill!  <3

They said I could be anything, so I became a panda.

And so I did.  Thanks to Tony Moly Panda's Dream Eye Patch! :P

Dark circles, puffy eyebags and fine lines, almost all of us have under eye problems.  It's really annoying because they're so difficult to alleviate, that's why we just rely on concealers.  Some people use treatments as a remedy, and they treat it as a vital step in their skin care routine, but based on my experience, it's also not easy to find a very effective eye cream that will get rid of these issues for good.  And if they do, you would probably see results after a long period of time.

Here's how I basically take care of the skin around my eyes.

1) I make sure it's moisturized.
2) I make sure it's protected (sunscreen).
3) I make sure that the product I'm using is not too strong for my skin.

I'll talk more about the importance of eye care products on my next post, because I'm now using a new eye cream, so a review will definitely come.

Aside from creams and gels, you can also use eye masks and patches.  You can also go old school and put on a slice of cucumber on each eye.  Don't lie.  I know you tried that!  HAHA!

This under eye patch by Tony Moly will give you panda eyes!  In a cute way, of course.  HIHI!

I thought they just came up with the cool product name for this, so I was amused when I saw what's inside.

One pack comes with a pair (obviously, because you need 2 sheets for your 2 eyes).  And the sheets are black!!!  Oh dear!  My sometimes-i-want-to-be-a-panda fantasy became reality... somehow.

It is very similar with regular facial masks.  Material looks the same, except for the color and all other apparent characteristics.  The sheet's quality is nice too.  It didn't break easily even if I tugged it.  It's also very soaked with the formula.  The masks are separated by this net-ish thing.

The formula felt sticky, but it didn't dry out very fast.

I wasn't sure how to put it on, so I just kinda guessed.  HAHA!  The label at the back shows that the "slit" should be like a downward "C".  From there, I followed my panda instinct.  :P

First, I tried to put it like so (above photo), with the "lids" open.  Next, I tried to cover everything (below photo), and it looked strange... and silly.

It felt nice and snug.  There's a slight cooling sensation, which I loved.  It stung my eyes a little when the liquid went in (and that's when I was trying to position the patch while I took the photos), but it's not that painful.

I can't remember the exact scent right now, but I'm pretty sure it's not strong and it's pleasant.

Panda, ninja or Zorro?  HAHAHA!

Later on, I decided to just cover the area completely.

Okaaay, at this point, I was trying to be a good blogger.  It's hard to take photos when you have eye patches on!  HAHAH!

After 20 minutes, it dried out so it's time to remove it.  By the way, I applied toner and moisturizer prior using these.

I felt that the skin around my eyes became softer and more moisturized.  I can't really tell if it reduced the puffiness though.  Maybe I have to use it in the morning to test it further.

Anyway, I got this for free.  As you can see in the label, "not for sale".  I think it's a promotional item, but the actual product looks exactly the same.

You can get this locally from Tony Moly at 58 php each (as per their Website).

What do you think?
