Sooooo thankful for a relaxed day!

Usually, it's either I'm filming or editing a video on a Sunday, but since I was able to finish two this month, I'm rewarding myself by binge-watching.  Haha!  There's a lot of TV series (Korean and Western) that I would like to check out - The Legend of the Blue Sea, Goblin, A Series of Unfortunate Events and How to Get Away with Murder to name a few.

I'll take advantage of this "free day"!  Woo! 😆

But of course, a new video will surely come up in February.  Until then, I'll do as many product reviews as possible, because I also like to cut my backlog list in half.

Now, let's start with a One Brand Review featuring Céleteque Dermoscience Acne Solutions line.

I've been testing this bunch for months now and I'm either using them all at once or rotating them.  I got really excited to try each, because the line is suitable for someone who's so annoyed with the excessive sebum production.  Yep, that's me. 🙋

However, there's not much of a difference in terms of the oil-control factor, but I still liked how they made the products very greasy/pimple-prone skin-friendly.

Acne Cleansing Gel

270 php for 50ml
495 php for 100ml

All of these were proven and backed up by a double-blind clinical trial conducted among women aged 35 to 60 years old.  That means people with more matured skin can also use these products.

Oil Control Toner

75 php for 65ml
117 php for 125ml

Since acne-prone skin is usually oilier, dirt and dead skin cells can easily get trapped inside, forming a plug.  If not treated properly, bacteria can thrive in there and worse, infect that annoying bump.  Once inflamed, it would turn red and swollen.

Hence, it's really important to use the right products for your skin type.  Personally, I think it starts with a very effective cleansing routine and exfoliation.  No matter how expensive or luxurious the formula of your moisturizer or serum is, if you apply it on a layer of dead skin cells and dirt, it's useless.

Acne Clearing Facial Moisturizer Gel

335 php for 50ml

Actually, when these babies came, it was a perfect timing because I was having a breakout.  Ugh, I was so spotty.  But I felt relieved using these products as they're formulated with pimple-fighting active ingredients.

I can also recommend this to everyone who's on a budget but would like to start a nice skincare regimen.  You can have the basics for less than 1000 php.

Acne Spot Corrector Gel

169 php for 5ml

Have you seen my latest makeup video (click here to watch)?  I used this guy to treat my pimples before putting on makeup.

It combats angry zits well!  Haha! 😉

This is truly a must-have even if you only get occasional breakouts, because it really speeds up the healing process.  It also acts as a layer of protection between an "open pimple" and makeup.  Make sure to apply a tiny amount thinly though to avoid a patchy area.

If I were to rank these four, this is my list starting from my least favorite:

4 - toner
3 - moisturizer
2 - cleansing gel
1 - spot corrector

Good thing, my skin has calmed down and it has been pimple-free for a couple of days already.  Hopefully, the hyper pigmentation the zits left would fade soon.

In case you're interested to try any of these or the whole line (coz why not), you can find them all in leading drugstores, beauty stores and supermarkets nationwide.

What do you think?

Wet N Wild Megalast lippies ruled the drugstore makeup department some time ago.  People went crazy over the formula, great color payoff and color range.  I've tried a couple of their lipsticks from other lines but never a matte one.

Then, I saw a nice deal on Amazon.  They're selling a set for a special price so I thought I could finally know what's the deal with these lippies.

The other shades in the set are not right up my alley so I decided to sell them and just get my top pick.

And here it is.

Color & Finish

The shade is called Nightcap, a chocolate brown color.  The first time I wore this, I instantly thought of doing a 90's-inspired look.  Haha!  😏

It's from the brand's 2015 Fall Collection and it's not in the permanent line.

I would say that it's not completely matte, because when applied, there's still some shine.

Even though it's really pigmented at first swipe, you can still add a second layer to get a more intense color.

Application

As expected, I can't get a perfect application without the help of a lip brush.  It's easy to glide though because it's creamy.  It's just that, when I put my lips together to blend it, I would end up having a mess around my lips.

teeth looking whiter too

Formula

I was actually expecting that it would feel drying on the lips, but it's not.  It's a matte lippie but it doesn't feel heavy.

Lasting Power

Here's the downfall.

I had high hopes that it would stay on my lips for 4 hours as claimed.  Yea, the color is there but I hate how it fades.  Like if I put on a full-lip, even without drinking or eating, the color on the middle part fades.

It also transfers easily and doesn't leave a stain.

I can't say though if it's also the same deal with the normal Megalast lippies - the permanent ones.

Nevertheless, I still like to rock this color and maybe next time, I'll try to blot it with a tissue first, then apply a second or third layer and see how it goes.

Dupe Alert

Yep, I found a dupe from my collection!

If it's 100% matte, it would likely be an exact dupe.  Color-wise, Nightcap and Kae by Colourpop look the same.

I also put Matte in Detail Loth on the side but I realized it's more on the peachy brown side.

So there, expect more brown lippies (nude or vampy) here on le blog.  Haha!  😏

I'm very happy to share with y'all my first collaboration this year!

So I've teamed up Beauty MNL for yet another haul and to spread the news about this amazing online beauty source.  In the video, I talked about the site and other things that could be helpful for my fellow online shopping fanatics.

But before I ask you to click that play button, allow me to give a HUGE thanks first to Beauty MNL team for this wonderful opportunity.  Now, even though this is a project with a brand, please know that this is not a sponsored video.  They didn't pay me to do this and I partially spent my own money.  What I said was purely based on my shopping experience and I'm just being 100% honest with you, guys.  #StayReal

Now that it's all cleared up, let's start watching, shall we?

Even if there are hundreds of products on the site, I was still able to shop and pick the ones that caught my interests with ease.  Looking at my loot, I was surprised that most of the items are from homegrown brands.  And of course, I had to get my dose of K-beauty.  😄

Is it just me, or you also love looking at the Best Seller section first before browsing per category?  Haha!  😊

Specially when I'm still unsure about which ones to buy or if I just need to add a few ones to my cart to let's say, qualify for the free shipping or something like that, I would make sure to go through the top rated product list.

Good thing, BeautyMNL.com has that!

They also have this BeautyMNL Awards series that showcases all crowd or BeautyMNL squad-favorites under makeup, skincare and other categories for 2016.  If the product has that badge, you bet that's a good one.

If you wanna see the lists, here are the links.

The 20 Best Makeup Products of 2016
The 26 Best Skincare Products of 2016
The 20 Best Hair Products of 2016
The 22 Best Asian Beauty Products of 2016
The 22 Best Local Beauty & Wellness Products of 2016

Another section to check out on the site is their online magazine called Bloom.

They do a rundown of weekly favorites, share beauty tips and trends and more.  The series that I love to check out often is Budget Buys, wherein they feature drugstore/more affordable dupes of high-end products.

Are you team splurge or team save?  😃

They also threw in a few freebies to your cart for every purchase.  I actually got 2 full-sized products!  So generous!

If you want to read more info, here's the link to their FAQ page.  All important details are there from payment, delivery, returns, etc.

After your shopping spree, I suggest that you write a review and let other beauty junkies know what you love about the products you've tried to earn credits.  Yay! 👍

Products I Mentioned

Click on the product name for the links.

COSRX BHA Blackhead Power Liquid (963 from 1,070 php)

I've heard that this one's a cult-favorite.

DETAIL Refreshing Makeup Remover (175 from 245 php but I got it for FREE)

I guess the liquid lipsticks are super long-lasting that they had to give me a free makeup remover.  Hihi.  I did a quick demo on the video.  😆

Matte in DETAIL Liquid Lipsticks in Loth and Mitchiko (225 php)

There so many shades to choose from!

CARMEX Strawberry Click Stick with SPF 15 (139 php)

I've already started using this and I must say, the moisture is strong with this one! 😉

INNISFREE Seaweed Capsule Recipe Pack (125 php)

Similar to mask sheets, this comes in many variants.  Has anyone of you tried this?

THE A-LIST F106 Concealer Buffer Brush Luxe Edition (150 php)

It's really good to have an all-around small buffer brush like this one.  I'm using it to blend concealer on the under eyes and pimple spots, to do a little bit of shading on the sides of the nose and sometimes, to buff eye shadow too!

PRO STUDIO BEAUTY EXCLUSIVES Powder Fan Brush (192 from 240 php)

To nail that blinding highlight, you gotta have the right tool!

SKIN GENIE Lip and Cheek Stain Alive! (80 php)

Stain Alive!  Stain Alive!  Ah ah ah ah!  Stain Aliiiiiveeee!

The color is kinda unique for a lip tint so I picked it up.  Not to mention, it's below 100 php.  Need I say more?

CREAMSILK  Dry Rescue Conditioner (141 php but I got it for FREE)

Yep, you can also get the basics from the site.

That's all!  Thanks for watching!  Don't forget to show some love by hitting the like and subscribe button.

Ladies (and gents), allow me to introduce to you my first ever liquid lipstick!

Before I go broke and go shop for liquid lipsticks to my heart's content, I decided to try this one from a local drugstore first.  I admit.  This was an impulsive buy.  I was only looking for BB creams, but you know, makeup junkie problems, I walked out the store with other things.  Haha! 😉  Virtual high-five if you can relate!

So anyway, here's LA Girl Matte Pigment in the shade Dreamy.

As you can see on the tube, they call it as a "pigment gloss".  Uhm, not sure about that.  It's clearly a matte liquid lipstick.

Color & Finish

It comes in 16 shades but I only got Dreamy, which is a matte, soft pink nude with some hints of beige.

Of course, I had to get the low-key colors first.  Haha!  I wanted something I can easily wear and apply (knowing most bold colors are very unforgiving).

Color payoff is nice.  You can get the true color at first swipe.

Application

It's housed in the usual tube packaging and it comes with a doe-foot applicator, which has flat sides.  It's super easy to put an even layer.  Also, the tip is very handy when it comes to working on the outline.

Formula

Now, here comes the tricky part - getting used to its sticky formula.

It's by far, the most glue-ish matte liquid lipstick I've tried.  When I put my lips together, I could really see and feel the tackiness.

As you can see in the photo above, the lines are emphasized once it dries down.  It's not too noticeable from a distance though.  On days when I wear this, I would frequently check if it made my lips like a dried plum already.  Haha! 😊

It's definitely not a lightweight lippie.  It's a bit drying as well.

I also remember eating a bread with this on and when I checked the mirror, some crumbs were like glued on my lips.  😋

Lasting Power

Though when it comes to longevity, this one's a badass.

It's a tough job to remove it.  I had to rub a cotton pad soaked with micellar water really hard to remove the swatch on my arms.  On the lips, there would be minimal fading/peeling after eating.

Dupe Alert

This is not an exact dupe but on the lips they look somewhat similar.  Dreamy is on the pinker side but sometimes, I could see more hints of beige specially under natural lighting.

Overall, it's clearly not my top pick formula-wise, but I'm still in love with the color.  It's perfect for everyday makeup plus, it makes my teeth look whiter.

You can get Matte Pigments and other LA Girl products at Watson's (at 349 php), SM/other Department stores or from some online shops.

What do you think?

Stay tuned for the BB cream review from the same brand!  Another thing to try from LA Girl is their Pro Conceal HD Concealer.

I got excited to try the makeup loot that Celeteque sent me, so I sat down and filmed a video.  I know it's been forever since my last one and I made a lot of boo-boos here, so please bear with me.  I'm still warming up.  Haha! 😃

I received 3 eye shadow palettes and 3 matte lipsticks and I thought I could do 3 makeup looks by pairing them.  I also grabbed a few products from other brands.  You can check out the list below.

The first two looks are so easy and simple, but for the last one, I had to create a smokey eye makeup so a lot of blending happened.  Haha!  I gotta admit, difficulty level is high for me.  It's been years since my last attempt. 😤

The palette and lipsticks have a great color payoff and I love that the color variety is suitable for everyday makeup.  Well, maybe except for Grey Smokey, but I think I can still use the black eye shadow as an eyeliner.

Products Used

The Face Shop Lash/Lid Glue
Celeteque 2-in-1 Eye Bag Miracle Kit
Celeteque 24-Hour Photoready Matte Primer
Celeteque Spot Corrector Gel
Clinique Foundation sample (can't remember the nameand shade)
Maybelline Super BB Cream in Natural
Celeteque CC Micro-Hydrating Powder
Celeteque Eyebrow Defining Kit in Deep Brown
Isehan Brow Tint in Pink Brown
Celeteque Eyeshadow Palette in Warm Brown, Pink Orchid and Grey Smokey
Etude House Play 101 Pencil in Black
K-Palette Eyeliner in Deep Brown
Fashion21 Double Up Mascara
Fashion21 White Eyeliner
False Eyelashes from Landmark
ELF Eyeshadow Pot in Toast and Party
Sleek Contour Duo in Light
Colourpop Blush in Between the Sheets
Celeteque Matte Lipstick in Ruby, Wine and Nude
Celeteque Lip Lacquer in Velvet Red and Natural Nude
ELF Baked Bronzer in Los Cabos
Nature Republic Aloe Vera Cleansing Tissue
Maybelline Hypersharp Wing Eyeliner

Btw, I tried my best to cover up my bumpy spots, but I didn't want to put on layers of foundation and concealer because I'm not a fan of cakey and heavy base.  The eyelid glue also got in the way.  The patchy area is not because of the eyeshadow, guys!  Let's just pretend they're not there.  Haha! 😉

You've seen the products in action, but I will still do individual/batch reviews, so stay tuned!

Thanks for watching!  Please don't forget to show some love by hitting the like and subscribe button. ❤

What do you think?  Which one is your fave?

If I were to create an "Ichi Signature Look", a pair of wings would definitely complete it.  Yes, I don't usually add it to my daily makeup routine (because I'm always in a hurry every freaking day), but on some occasions, I never skip it.

That's why I always make sure to have an eyeliner in my makeup drawer.  I've tried gel liners before but problem with them is that, they tend to turn into a rock after some time.  Pencils are okay too but I haven't encountered one that would not turn into a hot mess after several hours.  I only use them now to tightline my upper lash lines.

So, I thought why not try pens and see if they're a better option.

I got my first pen from a discount chain store in Osaka.  It's by the brand called K-Palette, which is also available here in Manila.  The black ones were sold out, which I totally understand because the price was slashed into half.  Maybe a lot of tourists took advantage of the sale.  Hihi.

Mine is in the shade Deep Brown.  From a distance, it looks like a not-so intense black so I think I still scored an actual black pen.

For me, when choosing a great eyeliner pen, it all boils down to the applicator.  You might get the best formula but if the brush is a trash, it's useless.  Let's face it.  It's difficult to draw the perfect wing especially with a shaky hand, so you need something that would help you, not make the process even more difficult.

During the first few tries, I wasn't so sure about how to do my usual wing.  It was a steep learning curve for me who's not used to pens.  However, I was able to get the hang of it after some time.  Yep, it's just all about practice.  Haha!

Good thing, the brush is not too bendy so it's easy to control.

As for the tip, it requires me to really focus (and hold my breath) to get that precise flick.

I bet you guys would like to know the deal about its lasting power.

First off, the formula is waterproof and it's meant to stay on the lids all day err day.  However, mine gets oily and when wearing my contact lens, I have to use eye drops, so basically, I can't avoid a non-dry lids the entire day.

That's why it wears off after several hours.  It's not smudge-proof on me.  I can also easily remove it sans any makeup remover.

Nevertheless, I still like to use it on normal days.  I would also recommend it to beginners because based on my experience, it didn't take long for me to get used to it.  And take note, I was a newbie to eyeliner pens when I first tried it.

Now, I have a new one in my collection.  You'll see it on my upcoming makeup video.  Stay tuned!

Goodbye to yet another awesome year.

I feel like I owe the universe big time because of all the unexpected things and doors that have opened for me in the past twelve months.  Most parts, I didn't ask for but I ain't complaining!  I couldn't thank the Amazing Guy up there enough for everything and for thinking that I do deserve it all.

When I was looking back at all of these special moments, I couldn't help but smile and whisper a "thank you".  Big or small, it doesn't matter because it definitely made my year a little more colorful than usual.

Here are the highlights of my 2016!

Another milestone...

Last month, le blog turned five years old.  Yea, there's no stopping despite of the difficulty in finding time to do a post.

I've also published 18 videos on my Youtube channel.  I admit that my contents are nowhere near "top quality", but please know that I worked damn hard for 'em.  Making videos is something I truly enjoy even though it could get stressful sometimes.  Hopefully, the ones lined up for next year would come out better.

Thank you for the trust...

To the brands that have shown their trust for le blog, thank you so much!

Being invited to blogger events means the world to me.  I always feel giddy like a kid who's in a party.

Skin White Blogger Event @ Enderun Mckinley Hill

Nature Republic SM MOA Branch Opening

Skin Station Century City Mall Branch Opening

Apart from the loot bags from these events, a few brands also showed their generosity through mail!

Thank you for spoiling me!

Special thanks to Bioessence for giving me a pampering sesh!

Click here to watch the vlog!

Imagine how "kilig" I was when I knew about these:

See more of the world...

Six months ago, I got an exciting news.

I actually didn't think that I'd get to see other parts of the world.  Ever.  It's in my bucket list of course, but not in my priority list because of other more important stuff I need to focus on.

I am forever grateful for this once in a lifetime chance to walk on the busy streets of Osaka and Shanghai and to see in my own eyes,  the culture and the people.

It's definitely one for the books!

For our last hurrah, we explored Davao.

Try something new...

I tried a new fitness activity this year.  If you're a follower on Instagram, you'd probably know what I'm talking about.  If not, maybe this photo could explain everything.

I would do a separate post about my new fitness journey soon!

Now, let me take a moment to reflect on the lessons 2016 has taught me.

Life is not a race.  I've reached this life stage wherein it's inevitable to feel like another chapter should start sooner or later.  It's not that I'm avoiding it but I don't know, I've never given it much thought.  I want to enjoy life as much as I could, given the time I have and focus on my goals.  I've learned that there shouldn't be any kind of pressure as to when we'd take the next turn in our lives.  It's our choice anyway and it shouldn't matter if we opt to slow things down and just enjoy the journey.

It's fine if we still can't figure out everything.  I couldn't count how many times I've made a seemingly "final decision" on how to take charge of my life and ending up not doing it at all.  It sucked.  However, I like to think that maybe life works that way.  There could be no clues nor anything that could lead you to where you should be at this point, but eventually, everything will make perfect sense.  I've learned that once I get to know what I really want and where I want to be, if I make the right choices, I'd get there and make it happen.

Give zero fvck about things you can't control.  There's one time when something I thought I deserve was taken away from me.  It's out of my hands so there's nothing I could do to take it back.  With a heavy heart, I've accepted it and moved on.  Then, when I least expected, a bigger door opened up.  See?  When sh*t happens, it happens for a reason.  I've learned that if we don't let go of things we can't change, we'll just end up miserable and we won't see the better things ahead of us.

When life gives you too much lemons... throw them (really really hard) to people who are such a pain in the ass.  Just kidding.  I've learned that the only way to survive hardships is to keep going.  When everything seems to fall apart and when we feel like it's too much for us to bear, start by having a more positive perspective and figure out a way one step at a time.

Focus on what you have.  I've shared one quote about this on Facebook.  In this social media-driven world, if you don't post what you have online, people will think you actually don't have it.  Crazy.  Remember that it's one thing to be grateful about the material things you own or you worked hard for and it's another thing to flaunt 'em for the sake of letting the universe know.  The sadder story, some people fall for this trap and they think that they're not as equally blessed because you have much and they have less.  I've learned that a happy heart is a content heart and blessings are not always in the form of material things.

Stay true to yourself.  Few weeks ago, I was bugged by an idea that perhaps, people have started to dislike me for some reasons.  One, maybe they thought I've changed from a person they knew years back to the person I am now.  Two, maybe they don't like how I seem to be in social media.  Three, maybe they just don't like me at all.  Whatever it is, I let it consume me for a time, which was a bad decision, I admit.  Then, I had a quiet moment and tried not to overthink things.  I said to myself, what's more important is to keep doing what I love to do as long as it's not hurting anyone.  I've learned that the person who knows me best is me and I shouldn't care much about pleasing other people and what they think about me.

Sorry for the lengthy post.  I feel relieved actually, because I felt like I talked to a friend and let all my thoughts out.  Hopefully, these lessons can also help you if you're dealing with a similar situation.

Again, I wish you all the best this 2017.  May we achieve all of our goals.

I look forward to the coming months because well, first off, I'm counting the days before I see Jay Park in his sexy body person.  Haha!  Please comment below if you're also coming to the event on the 24th!  Next up, a probable move out.  Whew!  Bigger responsibilities as I embark on this crazy adult journey.  Lastly, I also plan to do career changes this year.  I still need to give it one last serious thinking though.

Happy new year, world!  Cheers, good luck and dream on!
